Digitally sign PDFs using typed text, uploaded signatures, or freehand drawing
Sign PDF lets you add digital signatures to documents using typed text, an uploaded signature image, or freehand drawing with your mouse or touch device. There is no need to print, sign, scan, or fax anything — the entire signing process happens digitally in your browser. Electronic signatures are legally recognized in most jurisdictions under frameworks like the ESIGN Act (US), eIDAS (EU), and Kenya's Kenya Information and Communications Act. While Zilita's tool provides the signature placement mechanism, it is designed for informal to semi-formal document signing where a drawn or typed signature is acceptable. The signed PDF downloads as a standard PDF file that can be shared immediately. All processing runs client-side, so your unsigned documents and signature data never leave your computer. This is particularly important for contracts and agreements that contain confidential terms.
Upload any PDF, choose your signature method — type your name in a calligraphy font, upload an image of your handwritten signature, or draw your signature using a mouse or touchscreen. Position and resize the signature on the page, then apply it. You can add multiple signatures to different locations within the same document. The tool embeds the signature as a transparent PNG overlay on the PDF page at the coordinates you specify. You can also add a date stamp and optional signing location text below the signature. The final document is flattened into a new PDF, ensuring the signature appears correctly in any PDF reader regardless of fonts or system capabilities.
The traditional sign-print-scan cycle adds hours or days to document workflows. An agreement that could be signed in 30 seconds takes a full day when it involves printing, manually signing, scanning, and emailing back. Digital signature tools eliminate all of that friction. For freelancers, remote teams, and businesses that handle frequent agreements, the time savings are substantial.
