Convert videos between MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, and WebM formats.
Video Converter transforms video files between popular formats including MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, and WebM. It handles resolution scaling, bitrate adjustment, and codec selection — all within your browser with no server uploads. Whether you need to convert a video for compatibility with a specific device, reduce file size for sharing, or prepare footage for editing in a particular application, this tool provides the conversion pipeline without requiring any installed software. Different platforms and devices support different video formats. An MOV file from an iPhone may not play on an Android device. An AVI recording from a security camera may not import into a video editor that expects MP4. A WebM file optimized for web use may need conversion to MP4 for social media upload. Video Converter bridges these format gaps by re-encoding the video stream using FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, running entirely in the browser. Because FFmpeg runs inside your browser via WebAssembly, the video data stays on your machine throughout the conversion process. There are no upload queues, no file size limits imposed by a server, and no privacy concerns about the content of your videos.
Upload a video file and select the target format from the supported options: MP4 (H.264/AAC), WebM (VP8/Vorbis), AVI, MKV, or MOV. For MP4 and WebM, you can adjust the video quality using a slider that controls the CRF (Constant Rate Factor) — lower values produce higher quality with larger file sizes. Additional options include resolution scaling (downscale to 480p, 720p, or 1080p while maintaining aspect ratio), frame rate adjustment, and audio bitrate control. The tool shows the estimated output size and a preview of the first frame of the converted video. Once configured, click Convert and the tool re-encodes the video in real time, showing a progress bar as it processes.
Video format incompatibility is one of the most common friction points in media workflows. A client sends a ProRes MOV that your PC cannot play. A screen recording saves as WebM but YouTube prefers MP4. An old AVI file needs to be viewable on a modern tablet. Instead of searching for the right codec pack or installing a heavy video editor, this tool handles the conversion in a single step.

A content creator records a product review in 4K MOV format on an iPhone. Converting to MP4 at 1080p with medium quality reduces the file from 800 MB to 45 MB, making it uploadable to Instagram and YouTube without transcoding on the platform side.
A videographer sends a rough cut to a client, but the client cannot open the MKV file. Converting to MP4 ensures the client can play the video directly in their browser or media player without installing additional codecs.
